My observations on this year's Ogri Rally.
We arrived before 12noon, just in the nick of time to secure our favoured spot on the camping field - at the edge and relatively close to the loos and water tap.
Our camping neighbours were very friendly and one chap in particular had a desperate desire to share his alcohol stash with us. Every time he came over, he offered us a different variety of beverage, including honey Bushmills at 9am Saturday morning, lol!
There were more toilets this year and they were emptied twice on Saturday. No complaints there at all, except there was not a square of toilet roll to be had in any of the loos on Sunday morning. However, I always carry my own supply so it wasn't a problem for me.
There was an amazing selection of real ales and ciders and there was plenty to go around this year (not that I depleted the stock by very much at all. Hardly any in fact!)
There was a huge catering marquee (same as last year). We had an evening meal on Friday night. Al had fish, chips & mushy peas. Very good value at £5. My (slightly disappointing) veggie pasta bake was £4.
Breakfasts were an amazing value £4 for a huge, really nicely cooked breakfast plus toast and tea/coffee.
The music was brilliant this year. No ska (hoorayyyy). Lots of rock and the most amazing young blues guitarist, apparently he is just 15 years old. I was impressed.
There was extra entertainment this year by way of a Burlesque show. The dancers were good but it went on rather a long time and I got bored (especially with the irritating commentary).
The whole atmosphere of the rally seemed different this year. Very chilled and happy. We suspect that could be down to the interesting brown additive in the water although certain Ogri members tell us the colour was actually to do with water filtering through underground rocks ;-)
It was soooo chilled, we actually did some origami on Friday night in the marquee which Phil then modelled on his head.
Any criticisms from previous years were totally put to bed this year. An excellent rally which we thoroughly enjoyed.
